Intersex people and domestic violence

Another Closet explores domestic violence issues specifically for people in same-sex relationships.

However, we recognise that intersex people may have specific needs and experiences that are different from gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

There is still relatively little research, information or funding for projects addressing the needs of intersex survivors of domestic violence in Australia.

However OII (Organisation Intersex International Australia) has a website with lots of useful information.

OII Australia and ACON co-produced three resources to explain intersex to the LGBT* and broader communities, service providers and parents of intersex children.

The Survivor Project is a US based non profit dedicated to addressing the needs of transgender and intersex survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

If you are intersex and you need legal advice in NSW, the Safe Relationships Project may be able to help.
